This is a demi-lune table that I made a bunch of in the '80's. There was one left so I decided to keep it for the house before I discontinued the design. It's a modern looking piece, but because it's wood and has the wood warmth, it goes well with the rest of the woodwork in the house. Plus, as my wife notes, it has two horizontal surfaces.
This is the reading room, inspired by many visits to Barnes & Noble and mandated by the piles of books that kept adding up. Just like lumber in the shop has to be stored vertically to be easily accessible, so do books. I always seemed to want the one on the bottom of the pile. The basic wood is mahogany with birdseye maple doors. All the shelves are adjustable and solid wood so they will not sag over time. I had to make it in three sections to move it out of the shop and into the house. A major decision was whether to go with the individual reading chairs in the Mama bear, Papa bear mode, or to maintain the nap couch. I went for the nap couch.
